This UK Government backed certification scheme is aimed at protecting small and medium-sized businesses from the all too prevalent attacks on their IT systems and their customer’s data.

It’s a simple concept that’s very effective and focuses on five specific technical controls. Cyber Essentials allows you to demonstrate to your customers, investors, insurers and others that you’ve taken the right steps to reduce your risk of falling victim to cyber-crime and, critically, that you’re keeping data secure.
More and more businesses, organisations and individuals are looking out for the Cyber Essentials logo. You won’t stand a chance of securing some contracts without it. In fact, it’s been mandatory for some central Government contracts since 2014. It shows that you’re serious and responsible, and, of course, makes a huge difference to your level of risk.

The Cyber Essentials Standard

Cyber Essentials Plus Certificate

Whilst both Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus are recognised by the UK GDPR, Cyber Essentials Plus will carry more weight with your customers. This is because in addition to the steps included in Cyber Essentials certification, the Plus certificate is only issued when your business has been externally verified for cyber-attack mitigation by the certification body. Once these extra checks have been completed successfully, you can display the reassuring Cyber Essentials Plus badge on your branded material
